House Wash, Window Cleaning, Patio and Driveway Cleaning in Riverview, FL

In this video we spend the day at a home in Riverview, Florida, taking care of the whole exterior in one visit: a house wash, exterior window cleaning, the back patio and its furniture, and the paver driveway. These homeowners already have us on a recurring house wash, and this time they added the rest of the property. The company they used before hadn’t done the patio, driveway, or windows in quite a while, so there was a lot to catch up on.

Protecting the property first

Before any water or cleaning solution goes on the house, we cover the things that shouldn’t get wet or touched by it. On this job that meant the Ring doorbell, the door locks, the exterior outlets, and the TV on the back patio. We also moved the seasonal decorations (pumpkins included) out of the way and took down all the window screens so the glass could be cleaned properly. A gentle house wash on a well-kept home

Because this home is on a recurring schedule, the siding had very little mold or algae — just some moss and mildew building up on the shaded back side. That meant we didn’t need the stronger soft wash mix. A lighter sodium hypochlorite solution applied at low pressure was all it took. That’s one of the biggest benefits of regular house washing: each visit is faster and gentler because growth never gets a chance to take hold. Spot-free windows with a water-fed pole

The windows were fairly clean, so they just needed the spots and cobwebs taken off. We used a water-fed pole, which scrubs the glass and rinses it with purified water that dries without leaving spots. Learn more about water-fed pole window cleaning or our window cleaning service. The owners were home that day, so we did the exterior only and scheduled the interior windows for the following week.

Cleaning patio furniture and cushions with oxygen bleach

Outdoor cushions pick up little mildew spots that regular rinsing won’t remove. Instead of chlorine bleach, we pre-treat cushions with sodium percarbonate — oxygen bleach, the same active ingredient as OxiClean. It lifts mildew stains but is much gentler on fabric. We let it sit while we worked on other areas, then rinsed everything clean. The cushions were left out to finish drying.

The one tricky part was the second-floor balcony, which also had furniture on it. We had to be careful working above and around it while washing the house. You can see the finished patio and lanai cleaning at the end of the video.

Why moss grows in paver joints

Dante handled the driveway. As he pressure washed, a lot of dark sediment came out of the joints — not just sand, but moss and algae growing between the pavers. Unsealed joints trap dirt and nutrients, which gives organic growth a place to take root. That’s why this driveway gets dirty again quickly and needs cleaning about every six months.

Both the driveway and the patio would benefit from paver sealing. Sealing locks the joint sand in place and leaves less room for growth. The results

By the end of the day the driveway looked dramatically better, the growth on the patio was gone, and the windows were spotless. We took down the plastic from the TV and door locks, rinsed off the planters, rolled up the hoses, and headed out.
