Old paint and wood siding takes extra care when washing
Join us as we very gently wash this 110 year old wood-sided house in Tampa’s Bayshore neighborhood. We used our soft wash process, which cleans without high pressure.
And this house needed some gentle touch. The paint and siding had seen their better days, so we had to make sure we got rid of the grime and organics, without further damaging the exterior.

Cleaning historic wood siding
Wood siding is the most delicate exterior surface we clean. It needs the lowest pressure and the shortest dwell time to avoid raising the grain or promoting rot, and older paint can lift easily. Soft washing removed the grime and organic growth without further damaging the exterior.
Why we soft wash instead of pressure washing
High-pressure water can strip weakened paint, force water behind siding, and etch stucco. Soft washing lets a diluted sodium hypochlorite and surfactant solution do the work: it kills mold, mildew, and algae at the surface, then a low-pressure rinse carries the dirt away.
Because the cleaning solution kills the organic growth instead of just blasting the surface, the exterior stays cleaner longer — and the paint, stucco, and siding underneath stay intact.
